As we prepare for her funeral, all is going as smoothly as it can. We have most of the plans set and the viewing is on Friday the 24th from 6-8 pm at the local church house and the funeral on Saturday beginning at 12:30 pm at the same chapel followed by the burial at Mt. View Memorial Cemetery. We have set up a donation account in her name at Zions Bank. Anyone wishing to contribute to help with the funeral is much appreciated and many thanks from us.

thank you for all of your support through this endeavor.

Unfortunately Cathy did not respond to the medication and has passed on. We will miss her dearly and will miss her smile here on this earth. We would like to thank all those that have been a support and have stood by us for these past few weeks. We pray that God will take care of our mother, grandmother, wife, friend and sister and that she will be with us in spirit always. She left a legacy that will always be remembered and will never be forgotten. Again, thank you all for all that you have done for us. In rememberance Cathleen Davidson December 19, 1952 - April 19, 2009.
Our mother has not responded to the medicines to help her heart get better. The doctors are doing all that they can for her. We ask all of that read this to pray for her at this time.

Love,
Brandon and Sarah

We received a call from the hospital around midnight telling us that she had an irregular heart beat and that they had to shock her heart back into a regular rythum and that they moved her back up to the fifth floor for the time being. She is concious and alert but they are keeping a close eye on her for now. The doctor is on his way in to see her and talk to her about what has happened. That is all we know for now. We visited with her earlier today and she was having a rough day but seemed to be in good spirits when we came to see her. The staff was taking good care of her and her vitals and blood sugar looked good. We will know more about how this will affect her coming home when we go back tomorrow. We will let you all know as soon as we can.
Please keep her in your prayers that she will recover from this quickly and get back on track to coming home as soon as possible.

Love you all,
Brandon and Sarah

Mom has moved to a new Floor.

Yesterday was hectic. Mom got transferred to the 4Th floor. She is now in room s414. She is in stable condition, however; her blood pressure is really low. She is getting tired really easily. Her blood sugar is still high today was 189 They say it is because she just ate. She is still retaining a lot of water in her body, and still in heart failure. The heart specialists will be in here shortly to discuss the plan of action. Among everything else that has been happening they said that she does have sleep apnea. She will have to sleep with the c pap on and she is struggling.

The diagnosis today was not good and was extremely hard to hear the news. I do not know what is going to happen, however we are still going to have to pray for her recovery. Her heart is badly damaged and the doctors aren't so upbeat this time about it. I know that this is hard to type and tell all, but this is serious. I don't quite understand why they moved her to the fourth floor. To tell you all the truth, she got better care in the ICU. I came in today with dad and found that mother had fell because the nurses didn't respond to the nurse call so mom got up and slipped. She is OK from the fall all she hurt was her tush. The nurses here are not as attentive as they were up in the 5Th floor. So the decision is dad is going to sleep here with mom and make sure that she gets the care that she needs

I had to give mom a shower today and she was so extremely tired after sitting for 10 min. So we have to make sure she is getting the rest that she needs.. Ty and please keep the prayers going for her. thank you.

The prayers are working

I just got back from the hospital. Mom is doing well. She is quite irritable, however it is because her blood sugar was back up to almost 300. I believe it was 286. So they had to give her insulin. She still has the feeding tube in her nose. She is also still up to the same ole tricks. She is allowed a thick liquid diet. That means she has to spoon it not drink it or sip it. She has to do her chin tucks and she is being monitored still with ice chips. It is ok to allow regular water to rinse her mouth out after brushing her teeth, she is NOT allowed to swallow the water. She tried that with me and dad this evening and we took the water away. She is now on a cpack.. which is for sleep apnea, but they are using it to help her breath in the evening . So she has to wear it.

But so far the diagnosis is coming out much better. Please keep up the prayers and support. This Easter the doctor said that we can all go in her room and be with her just for a moment. So that was exciting. She isn't happy about not coming home for Easter but she is better off where she is at. Thank you all again for the support that you have been giving us. hugs and kisses..

Mom is getting better one day at a time

Hello everyone. I just went and seen my mom and she is doing much better. She is sitting in the chair and she is walking with a walker. They have removed the catherter and she is going to the bathroom on her own now. She had a test done today to check her swallow and her gag reflex and all is going well with that. They are going to order her a soft diet tomorrow. She can only have 4 ice chips in an hour and only the nurse is allowed to give them to her. SO PLEASE DONT LET HER FOOL YOU. Well they said if things go as well as planned than she might be moving downstairs either tomorrow or the next day. I have a site on sing snap that is a prayer chain for her so people are going in there and saying a prayer for her and then I print them off and have taken them to the hospital so she can see that everyone wants her to get better. I thank all of you for the support that you have all given our family. We love all of you. I will update again tomorrow on moms status. Please keep up the prayers they are working ,.

Mom's update today beware...

My mom is doing ok. She is awnry.. She doesn't quite get that this is serious and she needs to listen to the doctors and nurses. She is wanting to come home before Easter and she isn't understanding that she just can't do that. My dad has tried to tell her that if she doesn't listen to the doctors and nurses and if she has another heart attack she won't be around at all. He has had a heart to heart talk with the doctors today and asked them to explain it to mom that she needs to calm down and follow the instructions and that this is serious and not a game. If you go and see her please make sure she doesn't trick you into doing something for her that is not allowed if have any questions please ask the nurse prior to following through with the action she is asking you to do. Thank you. I know that she has a great support system and we are all a STRONG FAMILY.. I just want to thank each and everyone of you that has been here for her and for us. Love you all and I will continue to update every chance I get. But there is one thing I have to say

I talked to the heart doctor alone yesterday (Julia is typing) he told me what has happened. He told me about the diabities and he said that type 2 is generally hereditary, however; he said that since she only had it for 3 months he is wanting to believe that it came on through obesity and bad diet. He said that he is trying to handle that with medication rather than giving her insulin. Then I asked about her heart valve the one they said is shot, he said generally it could repair itself, but in mom's case he said it is yet to be seen. The reason is because she has what they call a leaking heart valve. That valve that was leaking leaked fluid into her lungs and now with the smoking and the valve that leaked she now has lung damage and that in itself is not repairable. He said that he has seen patients that did smoke get a heart transplant but because of the amount of damage caused to moms lungs that is the reason that she can not get a transplant or a mechanical heart. I thought that to be a bit interesting and thought that I would share this with all of you since it wasn't explained to us about the lung damage that was caused. \
Love all of you and best wishes.. Please keep the power of prayer going for it is helping...

Hello everyone.... Guess what great news... Mom is off life support/ventilator.. she has an oxygen mask on her right now, however she is getting better. We are not out of the woods yet since her heart is still weak, howerver; great improvement. She is able to speak to people but the doctors are asking her to keep it to a minimum since her throat is still quite sore and hard for her to swallow. She is going to see a therapist for her throat to help her learn to swallow again and for now they are allowing her to have ice chips. She looks amazing and her color is back. According to the news we received today she will be in icu either for a couple more days and then they will be moving her downstairs as stated above. Visitors will still be limited and she still needs alot of rest. I am glad that we got to see her in good spirits. She told us to send all her love to everyone and thanks you all for the support that you all have been giving her and our family and we all thank you just the same. love each and everyone of you. Please keep praying because the power of prayers they are working..

A day of rest

Today is Sunday. A day that Cathleen is resting, she is very exhausted from all of the tests and visitors. She has had a lot of family and friends visit and is very loved. When she gets visitors she communicates by writing on a clip board. She still has the breathing tubes in to help supply the much needed oxygen to her lungs. Today she is getting a blood transfusion to help her get oxygen through her body better. She has come a long way this week going from having only a 20% chance of making it to a 50% chance. As of today the docs have said that she will be in the ICU for another week. Her nurse Erin lets us know that this is the best place for her right now. After the ICU she should be moving down stairs to the rehab center. Yesterday they did some physical therapy with her, she sat up in bed and moved to a chair. When visiting beware of the squirt bottle, she is known to squirt when you aren't paying attention.
